Lansford goes 4-for-5, Leads Athletics to Win
|
The Oakland 1990 Athletics defeated the Boston 2004 Red Sox by the score of 9-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Carney Lansford. Lansford went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 4 times for the Athletics on the day. Oakland 1990 now has a record of 21-15 with the win.
Walt Weiss went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Oakland 1990. The 1988 Rookie of the Year Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Byung-hyun Kim. It was his 32nd hit of the season.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Oakland 1990 manager Kelly Audia. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
