Detroit 1984 Gets 9-7 Win Against Rays
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Detroit 1984 Tigers and Tampa Bay 2013 Rays came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Detroit 1984 Tigers outlasted Matt Joyce and the Tampa Bay 2013 Rays, 9-7. Joyce was impressive in the loss. The Tampa Bay 2013 left fielder was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dan Petry, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. Willie Hernandez earned the save for Detroit 1984, his 16th of the year.
First Baseman Darrell Evans made an impact for Detroit 1984, when he swatted a 2-run double off Roberto H. Hernandez in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Evans went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Detroit 1984 skipper Kelly Audia.
The defeat makes Tampa Bay 2013 24-34.
