Seattle 1998 Bats Quiet in 9-0 Loss
The New York 1962 Yankees and starting pitcher Al Downing stifled the Seattle 1998 offense en route to a comfortable 9-0 win at Yankee Stadium. The first-place Yankees, at 53-37, now lead their division by 2½ games.

The Yankees got a big hit from first baseman Bill Skowron. Facing Seattle 1998 pitcher Jeff Fassero in the bottom of the fifth, Skowron pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 13th home run of the season put the Yankees ahead, 7-0.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Downing.
