Arizona 2002 picked up a win at Three Rivers Stadium, bumping off the Pittsburgh 1979 Pirates, 6-5. Pitcher Rick Helling was a major reason the Diamondbacks emerged victorious. Arizona 2002 reliever Rick Helling picked up the win, while Jim Bibby took the loss for Pittsburgh 1979. Getting the save was Mike Koplove, his 7th.

Arizona 2002 took a 6-3 lead on Quinton McCracken's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McCracken hit in the top of the eighth, left Pittsburgh 1979 pitcher Enrique Romo visibly frustrated.
