Cardinals Take Nail-Biter Over Expos
|
The St. Louis 1985 Cardinals stopped the Montreal 1994 Expos, 7-4, in 14 innings at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals got a big game from Jack Clark, who went 3-6 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. St. Louis 1985 reliever Andy Hassler picked up the win to move to 1-0. Rod Henderson suffered the loss. The Cardinals raised their record to 21-24.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 14th. With no one out, Clark hit a fastball from Rod Henderson for a 3-run home run. The Cardinals, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Cardinals manager Kelly Audia.
