Kevin Ritz, who is tied for 9th in the NL in complete games with 1, was locked in. The right-hander led the Colorado 1997 Rockies to a 7-4 win against the Cincinnati 1976 Reds at Coors Field. Bruce Ruffin nailed down his 9th save. The first-place Reds now sit at 53-34.

The Rockies got a big hit from third baseman Vinny Castilla. Facing Cincinnati 1976 pitcher Fred Norman in the bottom of the fifth, Castilla pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 17th double of the season put the Rockies ahead, 7-0.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Castilla.
