Hit Streak Now at 25 for Ripken Jr. Friday, May 16th , 2025 With 1 hit at Memorial Stadium, Cal Ripken Jr. added another game to his hitting streak -- the Baltimore 1983 shortstop has now hit safely for 25 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Orioles, as they fell, 11-8, to the Detroit 1984 Tigers. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Detroit 1984 manager Kelly Audia said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Cal Ripken Jr. singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. So far this season, Ripken Jr. is batting .335 with 15 home runs. |
