Hitting Streak Still Alive for Ripken Jr.
Thursday, May 29th , 2025
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Cal Ripken Jr. did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Kingdome. For the last 35 games in a row, the 22-year-old shortstop has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Baltimore 1983 Orioles beat the Seattle 1998 Mariners, 10-5.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Ripken Jr. told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Baltimore 1983 clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Cal Ripken Jr. hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far this year in 61 games, Ripken Jr. is hitting .346 with 20 home runs, 56 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
