Not only did the Mariners break his 35-game hitting streak, they also beat Baltimore 1983 by the score of 2-0. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Ripken Jr. said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
