Dawson Reaches 2000 Milestone Sunday, June 1st , 2025 The box score from yesterday's game will show that Chicago 1989 beat the Philadelphia 1980 Phillies, 6-3. It will also show that right fielder Andre Dawson went 2-for-4 for the Cubs. It will not show, however, that Dawson reached the 2000-hit mark for his career. The 34-year-old Dawson reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit." In his career, Dawson has played in 1813 games, totaling 2001 hits, 365 doubles, 79 triples and 318 homers. He has hit .284 with 1107 RBIs and scored 1033 times.
