Sunday, June 1st , 2025
Steve Garvey was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar.
After the 35-year-old San Diego 1984 Padres first baseman tallied 5 hits in 5 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 9-6 decision to the Cincinnati 1976 Reds.
"That was no fun," Garvey said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win."
Steve Garvey singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In his season totals, Garvey has 3 home runs, .261 BA, .275 OBP, 16 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has played in 52 games.
