Big 3-HR Day for Galarraga
Tuesday, June 24th , 2025
Andres Galarraga was in a home run mode at Coors Field. The Colorado 1997 first baseman massacred Reds pitching, cracking out three home runs and going 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. But this sensational performance didn't really matter. Cincinnati 1976 won the ballgame, 17-12, despite the three homers.
"I wish a big 'W' had come with this," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but the bottom line is whether you win or lose."
Nonetheless, Galarraga will now have a place in the league record book.
"I guess when you're hot, you're hot," he said. "I'm not going up there trying to hit home runs. I put the good part of the bat on it and luckily three of them went out today."
Andres Galarraga hit a solo-shot off Santo Alcala in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Billingham in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Jack Billingham in the 9th.
Currently Galarraga is batting .275 with 29 home runs, 68 RBIs and 65 runs scored.
