5-Hit Game for Puckett
Thursday, June 26th , 2025
It was a downpour of hits for Kirby Puckett at Jacobs Field.
The Minnesota 1991 Twins center fielder tore into Cleveland 1995 for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace the Twins to a rain-delayed 15-7 victory. Cleveland 1995 manager Kelly Audia bemoaned his pitching, speculating his club got flustered by Puckett's big day.
"He was beating us and we stopped locating well," he said. "That makes you get behind in the count and you can't do that when a guy is hot like Puckett was today. Not to take anything away from him, but bad location was the story of the ballgame."
Kirby Puckett grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Puckett has a .295 average and a .315 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 105 hits, 11 home runs and driven in 49 runs.
