Murray Lifts Orioles to 6-5 Triumph
|
Eddie Murray made an impact in the 6-5 Baltimore 1983 win over Minnesota 1991. Murray, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1977, was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Dan Morogiello, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save. With the victory, the Orioles upped their record to 32-25.
Had John Lowenstein not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Lowenstein hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Orioles.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Lowenstein.
