Despite a great performance by Seattle 1998 designated hitter Glenallen Hill, the Texas 1999 Rangers defeated the Mariners by the score of 10-9 at The Ballpark in Arlington. Hill went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The Rangers raised their record to 24-38.

Juan Gonzalez was the walk-off hero for Texas 1999. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rangers right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"The ending was a real humdinger," Gonzalez told reporters after the game.
