Randy Johnson, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in complete games with 1, imposed his will on the Mets from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Arizona 2002 triumph. Johnson, now 3-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Mike Koplove closed the door for Arizona 2002, picking up his 10th save of the year.

The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from right fielder Jose Guillen. For the game, Guillen was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Arizona 2002 a 2-1 lead.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Johnson. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."

Arizona 2002 is now 26-25, New York 1986 25-25.
